Omondi noted that Kariuki comes from a very humble
background and vowed to support the family during this challenging time.
He also urged Kenyans to come through for the family by channelling their contributions to Kariuki's mother.
“We want to support them with the hospital bill, with a
business for the father and the mother as well as Boniface once he recovers," Omondi said.
“Team sisi kwa sisi, please send whatever amount that you can
to the family to the mother's number 0700,463,254 (Susan Nyambura),” he added.
Kariuki's parents also pleaded with Kenyans to support
them in the treatment and recovery journey of their son.
“I don’t have much to say, but I am pleading with Kenyans to
support us not only financially but also in prayers for our son to get well,” Kariuki’s
mother said.
Since the shooting incident went viral, Omondi has, from the onset, expressed solidarity with the family.
Omondi called on Kenyans to show up for a solidarity walk for
Boniface Kariuki, who was shot during the protest on Tuesday.
In a statement on X, Omondi asked Kenyans to ensure that
they wear masks this coming Friday.
“I am calling upon Kenyans all over the country, this Friday
let’s all wear masks in solidarity with our brother Boniface Kariuki,” Omondi
said.
Team sisi kwa sisi is an initiative that Omondi started to provide
consolation and comfort to grieving families and people facing unique challenges in society.
Since it began, he has been able to help families with clearing hospital bills, building homes, starting businesses and standing with them in many other ways.
