The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to prepare for rains, chilly mornings and hot afternoons in different parts of the country.

In the latest weather forecast for the next week, Met said there will also be strong winds, as the country transitions through the final week of August.

The weatherman said showers will continue across the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Western, and parts of North-western Kenya.

The department, however, said both the intensity and coverage of rainfall are expected to gradually reduce compared to previous weeks.

Intermittent cloudiness and cool weather will be felt in sections of the Central Highlands, South-eastern Lowlands, Western Kenya, and the Rift Valley.

These conditions may limit sunshine hours during the mornings.

Residents of North-eastern and North-western Kenya have been urged to prepare for hot afternoons, with daytime temperatures forecast to soar above 30°C in several counties.

“Expect highs above 30 °C in much of North-eastern and North-western Kenya.”

Meanwhile, chilly nights will dominate parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro, where minimum temperatures may fall below 10°C.

The weatherman has also warned of strong southerly to south-easterly winds blowing at speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s).

These winds are expected along the Coast, Kenya’s territorial waters, the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western regions.

The Kenya Meteorological Department urged residents, especially those in coastal and semi-arid areas, to stay alert for wind-related disruptions.

Farmers and herders have also been advised to take note of the weather patterns as they may affect agricultural and livestock activities.
