A man was arrested in connection with the murder of his wife and their three-year-old child aged three in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.
The suspect was arrested as he travelled in a matatu towards Nairobi in
Lari area, Kiambu County.
This was hours after the bodies of the two were found in his house in a
village in Kinangop.
He is believed to be the prime suspect who caused the death of his wife, Mary Wanjiru Njogu, 27 and her daughter, Peris Wanjiru, aged three, on September 2, 2025, police said adding he will be charged with murder.
He was driven back to Kinangop for processing pending the arraignment.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established.
Elsewhere, a rider was found murdered and his body left near his
motorcycle in Kibaoni, Lamu County.
Police said unknown assailants killed John Ngigi, 33 on September 2, 2025 before his body was discovered on the roadside with blood oozing from the mouth, ears and nose.
His dental formula had also been badly damaged, while
there were bruises on his ribs, and he had a swollen face.
Police said they found an Sh200 note spread on the ground and his cap. His
motorcycle was found about 30 meters away from where the body lay.
The motive of the murder was not immediately known. The body was moved to
the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
In Tana River’s Madogo area, the body of one Patrick Mutuku Nzuvi, 37, was
found lying in the middle of the road and in a pool of blood after a suspected
murder.
Police said the body had a deep cut wound on the back, and the
motive of the murder is yet to be known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said of the
September 2 incident.
In Narok, a casual worker at a farm died after he had been attacked by
unknown assailants.
Police said David Bargelo, 50, succumbed to the injuries in hospital after
the attack in the Nchurra area.
The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said.
The man had deep cut wounds on both arms, suspected to have been inflicted
using sharp objects.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and
investigations.
Police say murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.
Most of the incidents are pending in courts, while others are yet to be cracked.
