Woman arrested in connection with killing of her husband in Machakos

A 59-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the killing of her husband in Ndithini village, Masinga, Machakos County.

Police said the victim, Anthony Muli, died instantly on Saturday after being struck on the head with a metal rod during a domestic confrontation.

According to witnesses, Muli arrived home late and picked a quarrel with his wife. In the heat of the altercation, he allegedly reached for a metal rod to attack her. However, the woman overpowered him, grabbed the weapon, and fatally hit him on the head.

Police confirmed that Muli died on the spot. His body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in custody for questioning.

The case is among at least five murder incidents reported to police in recent days, raising alarm over rising violent crime.

In Kakamega County, police are investigating the killing of Martin Chebuku, 44, who was attacked while walking home in Matete. The roadside found his body on September 6 alongside a pair of shoes, a mobile phone and a metal rod. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear.

In Homabay County, 67-year-old Grace Orinda succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault on September 3. She died two days later while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Still in Homabay, the body of Enos Otieno, 40, was discovered on September 6 in Koyoo area, Rangwe sub-county. Police said he had injuries on his hands, ears and back, but the motive of the killing is yet to be established.

Meanwhile, in Migori town, boda boda operator George Moses, 28, was found dead on Saturday morning. Police believe his body was dumped by the roadside after he was killed elsewhere. The body bore bruises on the head and legs.

Police say investigations are underway into all the cases but admit solving the recent string of murders has been challenging.
