A revolution is a situation in a country characterised by a sudden and fundamental transformation of political, social or economic structures, often involving mass mobilisation, non-institutionalised actions like protests or violence and a competing vision for a just society.
Key drivers of any revolution are mass frustration, dissident elites, mass mobilisation, a state crisis and shared motivations stemming from an awakening of a large segment of the population that was previously asleep or completely disillusioned to the point of just giving up.
