The meeting, which begins on September 15, is expected to conclude on September 19, 2025. It includes multiple sessions focused on strengthening partnerships and addressing global issues through dialogue and cooperation.
The European Union (EU) regularly engages with citizens, partners, and international stakeholders on a wide range of policy and strategic matters. These interactions take various forms, from encouraging citizen participation in policymaking through platforms like the Conference on the Future of Europe to working together on pressing global challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, and digital transformation.
In a public statement, McOure thanked both the European Union in Kenya and ODM party leader H.E. Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga for facilitating the opportunity.
"I have just arrived in Brussels to represent The ODM party at the European Parliament and other key institutions. This opportunity comes courtesy of the European Union in Kenya and H.E. Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who has always reminded us that excellence must be pursued relentlessly and without excuse,” said McOure.
He emphasized that his participation is not just symbolic but rooted in ODM’s broader mission of learning from global institutions and applying those lessons to strengthen the party’s political capacity back home.
"I look forward to engaging with world leaders, learning best practices, and bringing these insights back home to strengthen our mighty party," he added.
Kasmuel is one of the young activists who became the face of Gen Z protests in Kenya, following the enactment of the controversial Finance Bill, 2024, by Members of Parliament.
He was among those who led the anti-government movement both online and in the streets; however, in November 2024, McOure announced his move to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
In a statement after a meeting with party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel said the party is now out to revive youth and student leagues across the country.
He went on to say that ODM is the only pro-people party in East and Central Africa.
The activist further called on young people to join the party, insisting that it is the only political movement that pushes for a country where everyone can live with dignity.
“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty—the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!
“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair @gladyswanga, for your faith and hosting us this weekend,” Kasmuel said.
McOure’s visit is part of ODM’s wider push to build international networks and increase its institutional knowledge through global partnerships.
These exchanges are aimed at enhancing party structures, improving governance strategies, and ensuring the party remains aligned with evolving international standards.
The Brussels sessions are also expected to cover issues around democratic development, youth empowerment, and innovation in public policy — areas that are increasingly central to ODM’s reform agenda.
This engagement reflects the growing trend of political parties in Africa seeking strategic collaboration with global entities to gain exposure, exchange ideas, and contribute to shared solutions.
