Authorities said the Probox driver veered off its lane before ramming into the oncoming trailer. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and moved the injured to nearby health facilities. The driver of the Probox was among those who lost their lives in the crash.

Residents who gathered at the site expressed concern about the safety of the stretch, describing it as too narrow and prone to accidents.

“This section of the road is petite. Vehicles cannot pass comfortably, and when one approaches at speed, an accident is almost inevitable. The government should look into expanding it,” said Emmanuel Nikira, a resident.

Those with critical injuries were admitted to Akidiva Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital’s mortuary.
