Seven suspects arrested in Bungoma over stolen goods

Impounded goods include two motorcycles suspected to have been used in transporting the stolen property.

Police in Bungoma have arrested seven suspects and recovered a large consignment of stolen household goods and electronics.

The arrests were made on Saturday, September 20.

Officers from Bungoma police station were on routine patrol when they intercepted several individuals carrying items believed to be stolen.

The suspects were questioned at the scene. They later led police to a house in the Galana area.

More property was recovered there, and additional suspects were apprehended.

Among the recovered goods were television sets, laptops, speakers, solar panels, utensils, and assorted electronics.

Police also impounded two motorcycles suspected to have been used in transporting the stolen property.

In a statement released on Saturday night, the National Police Service praised the swift action of the officers.

“We commend our officers in Bungoma for their vigilance. Such operations will continue until criminal networks are dismantled,” the statement said.

The statement also urged residents to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies.

“We call on members of the public to report suspicious activities without delay. Your partnership is critical in ensuring safer communities,” it added.

Police confirmed that all items have been documented and secured as exhibits.

The suspects remain in custody. They are expected to appear before the Bungoma Law Courts on September 22, 2025.

Security agencies have assured residents that the fight against organised crime in Bungoma and across the country will be sustained.

Police said the recovered property will be matched with reported thefts.

Legitimate owners will be contacted once verification is completed.
