Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i have arrived at the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC).
Uhuru made a high-profile entrance at the Jockey Club, Ngong racecourse, marking a rare public appearance.
Uhuru arrived at the venue in a black Toyota Land Cruiser and was welcomed at the entrance by former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Presidential hopeful Fred Matiang’i.
The two exchanged a warm handshake before the former head of state proceeded to greet other party officials and delegates.
Also on hand to receive him was Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and several senior party figures.
Delegates at the conference turned out in conspicuous red outfits, the party’s signature colour.
The NDC is being held where he is expected to provide
direction to the party after years of internal wrangles.
The disputes began after a faction led by nominated MP
Sabina Chege and EALA legislator Kanini Kega attempted to take over the party,
sparking a prolonged standoff.
All attention is now on Uhuru’s address at the NDC, where
members and supporters are eager to hear his guidance and the party’s plans
ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speculation remains that former Interior Cabinet Secretary
Dr. Fred Matiang’i could play a key role in Jubilee’s future, after he recently
held a consultative meeting with members as part of his nationwide listening
tour.
The NDC is a meeting where he is expected to provide direction to the party after years of internal wrangles.
Kioni had earlier said the engagement with Matiang’i was in preparation for the NDC, describing it as a reaffirmation of unity and renewal within the party.
“Today, I had the privilege of leading a consultative meeting with former Jubilee Party members of Parliament alongside Hon. Fred Matiang’i and other leaders. Together, we reflected on our shared journey and laid the ground for the Jubilee Party NDC this Friday.
This gathering is more than preparation; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to unity, renewal, and a politics defined by purpose. Jubilee’s story is still being written, and together we move," he said.
