Babu on Monday said Kalonzo has firmly steadied the opposition movement and is the best bet to send President William Ruto home in the coming polls.
The ODM MP who is among those who have rebelled from his party’s resolution to support the Broad-based government, said the next election will be a protest vote against UDA.
He likened the political climate in the country to that of USA in 2020 when angry voters turned out to vote out President Donald Trump, or Kenya’s 2002 moment where the opposition united to defeat the then ruling Kanu party.
“In 2020, people turned out in the USA when Trump was serving his first term; they didn’t go to vote in Joe Biden, they went to vote out Trump. In 2002 in Kenya, people went to vote out Daniel Moi; they did not go to vote in Mwai Kibaki,” he said.
“In 2027, Kalonzo ametosha hajatosha? Kama alikuwa Azimio, Kalonzo alikuwa mzuri. Saa hizi kama ako opposition sasa Kalonzo ni mbaya? Kalonzo amekosa nini so far? Ati tukisema Kalonzo tosha ati Babu ni mbaya, mbaya what?" he posed.

Babu was speaking at WPF offices in Karen when he joined over 700 student representatives drawn from Universities and TVETs from across the whole country.
The MP praised Kalonzo over his resilience during the last polls when he campaigned for Raila Odinga vigorously despite not being named as his running mate.
“So, you must register as a voter so that we appoint Kalonzo."
Speaking during the same event, Kalonzo asked the youths to register en masse, saying that their voices will only be heard and felt through the ballot during voting day.
“This country’s youth is very hungry for leadership change. They are patriotic and do not care about ethnic lines,” the former Vice President added.
The Wiper leader also used the opportunity to woo the Embakasi East legislator to his party with signs that he is falling out with the ODM leadership over his strong anti-government stand.
“Babu, if things look confusing in ODM and the larger Azimio coalition, I welcome you to Wiper,” Kalonzo said.
The opposition chief has vowed to review most of the Kenya Kwanza government's economic policies if elected President, saying he will start with the controversial Housing Levy and the Social Health Authority (SHA).
