
A man was arrested after a game with his daughter turned tragic when the
child fell and died in the Muungano area of Utawala, Machakos County.
Police said the man was taken into custody on
suspicion of murder after the two-year-old and nine-month-old girl died
following the fall.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 4,
2025, at the man’s home.
According to police, the father was tossing the girl up and down in what was
considered a playful game when she accidentally slipped from his hands and
landed on the ground, sustaining fatal injuries.
The child was rushed to a nearby private
hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers responding to the scene said they
found the father visibly distraught, standing next to his daughter’s body.
Unsure of what would happen to him next, he explained to the police that it had
been an accident.
Despite his account, police informed him that
he would be detained as investigations continued.
The girl’s body was later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and
further inquiries.
Meanwhile, in Nandi Hills, police have
launched investigations into a separate incident where a casual labourer was
stabbed and killed during an argument.
The deceased was identified as 35-year-old
Evans Saina. According to police, he was stabbed in the chest and died
instantly. The motive of the fatal dispute remains unclear. Officers said the
assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack and is currently being
sought. Saina’s body was moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.
Elsewhere in Ruiru, Kiambu County, police are
probing the mysterious death of a man whose body was discovered along the
Ruiru–Githunguri road.
The body, found on Saturday, bore visible
bruises and appeared to have a broken hip joint.
While initial reports suggested it may have been a hit-and-run road
accident, investigators said they are also considering the possibility of foul
play.
The body was taken to the mortuary pending identification and a postmortem
examination.
In yet another incident in Mbooni, Makueni
County, the body of a man was discovered partially mauled by wild animals after
what police suspect may have been a murder.
The deceased was identified as 37-year-old
Kimathi Muli. Police said they are working to establish how he died and whether
he was killed before the animals got to his body.
His remains were transferred to the mortuary for autopsy and further
investigations.
Police say the motive of the killing, if confirmed, is yet to be established.
