Police said the man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder after the two-year-old and nine-month-old girl died following the fall.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the man’s home.

According to police, the father was tossing the girl up and down in what was considered a playful game when she accidentally slipped from his hands and landed on the ground, sustaining fatal injuries.

The child was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers responding to the scene said they found the father visibly distraught, standing next to his daughter’s body.

Unsure of what would happen to him next, he explained to the police that it had been an accident.

Despite his account, police informed him that he would be detained as investigations continued.

The girl’s body was later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further inquiries.

Meanwhile, in Nandi Hills, police have launched investigations into a separate incident where a casual labourer was stabbed and killed during an argument.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Evans Saina. According to police, he was stabbed in the chest and died instantly. The motive of the fatal dispute remains unclear. Officers said the assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack and is currently being sought. Saina’s body was moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.

Elsewhere in Ruiru, Kiambu County, police are probing the mysterious death of a man whose body was discovered along the Ruiru–Githunguri road.

The body, found on Saturday, bore visible bruises and appeared to have a broken hip joint.

While initial reports suggested it may have been a hit-and-run road accident, investigators said they are also considering the possibility of foul play.

The body was taken to the mortuary pending identification and a postmortem examination.

In yet another incident in Mbooni, Makueni County, the body of a man was discovered partially mauled by wild animals after what police suspect may have been a murder.

The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Kimathi Muli. Police said they are working to establish how he died and whether he was killed before the animals got to his body.

His remains were transferred to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.

Police say the motive of the killing, if confirmed, is yet to be established.
