Detectives are investigating an incident where a General Service Unit officer manning part of the security fence around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi was found dead.
The incident happened next to the Kwa Mwenje Resort, which is near the JKIA fence.
Police said the body of Constable Nahashon Katumo was found in a pool of stagnant water near the resort moments after his killing on Sunday evening, October 12, 2025.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established. Police said the suspect behind the incident was arrested by another GSU officer after a brief chase.
It was established that the deceased
officer had gone to the resort to recharge his mobile phone and was leaving the
place when he was attacked by the lone man.
The man hit and pushed the officer into the pool of water, falling on his back. He was in his official uniforms.
Witnesses said he then drowned him. The
officer lay helpless due to the injuries he had sustained in the brief scuffle.
His colleague, who was near the area
rushed to the scene moments later and found the deceased had succumbed, police said.
His G3 rifle lay next to the body and
intact.
It was then that he spotted the said
assailant run away and chased him, police said, adding he was arrested a few meters away.
He had a head injury and was taken to the
hospital and under arrest.
The body of the officer was retrieved from
the scene and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.
The airport’s perimeter fence is usually manned by armed officers. Police said they are investigating the motive of the incident.
Senior police officers visited the scene
as part of the probe into the murder.
Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where the
body of a man was found dumped at a farm after his murder in Kunene, Tigania,
Meru County.
Police said the deceased, Peter Giterere, 55, was
killed elsewhere, and the body was dumped at the scene before it was found on
Sunday afternoon.
The body had visible swollen face, chest, and
hands.
The motive of the murder was not immediately
established.
The body was picked up and taken to a local
mortuary pending an autopsy and further probe.
Detectives visited the scene and declared it was a secondary one.
The team is pursuing leads on the possible area the man
was killed.
In the Mosoriot area, Nandi County, a man identified
as Nathan Ngesirei, 60 was found dead and naked on the roadside after his
murder.
The motive of the October 12, 2025 murder was
not immediately established, police said.
Police said the body had visible injuries on the head, and a blood-stained piece of wood was found next to it.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
