The Azimio TV production team has paid a moving tribute to the late former prime minister Raila Odinga, describing their years of documenting his political journey as both a profound honour and destiny fulfilled.
Standing at Raila's final resting place, the crew reflected on their long association with him, from the dust of campaign trails to the defining moments of the country's democratic struggles, capturing the essence of a man they called Baba.
“Serving you was not just a duty, it was a destiny,” the team said in a heartfelt statement shared during their visit to Opoda farm in Siaya County.
“Our lenses and hearts bore witness to your unwavering courage, your boundless love for Kenya, and your unyielding stand for justice, democracy, and equality.”
They expressed deep gratitude to the Odinga family for their strength and grace, acknowledging their support in allowing the team to chronicle Raila’s political and personal journey.
The crew also thanked the ODM Party leadership and the National Secretariat for the trust and collaboration extended to them throughout the years.
“To the famous Team KDD, your spirit, energy, and dedication have been the heartbeat of every mission. Let’s salute each other,” they noted.
In their statement, the crew also extended appreciation to their loyal viewers and supporters.
They credited them for sustaining their mission to document the ideals and aspirations that Raila stood for.
As they bid farewell, the team reaffirmed their commitment to preserve and tell the story of Raila’s enduring legacy, his vision for a just and united Kenya.
“Rest in Power, Baba. Your story lives on through us,” the message read.
The tribute was signed by Azimio’s media communication team members, including Dennis Onyango, Philip Etale, and Ketta Onyango, among others.
Azimio TV was established in the run-up to the 2022 general election.
Raila, who died last Wednesday in India, was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, in an event attended by several leaders including President William Ruto.
Other foreign leaders were also in attendance.
