Mama Ida Odinga, the spouse of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has promised to assist Mumias East MP Peter Salasya in finding a life partner.

During his visit to Opoda Farm in Siaya County on Friday, Salasya made a lighthearted appeal to Mama Ida, asking her to help him find a woman as “good and beautiful” as she is.

“Nakuomba wewe mimi kama kijana mdogo, wakati nataka kuoa bibi, nipate bibi kama wewe,” he said.

“There are a lot of things I want to share, nitakuja nikae na wewe pekee yetu kwa sababu kuna mambo mengi sana,” he added.

In response, Mama Ida accepted the challenge, assuring the MP that she would personally help him in his search for a suitable partner.

“Ile ombi yako nimesikia. Amesema anataka msichana kutoka hapa nimchagulie. Hiyo siwezi kuchukua for granted. Daughters of Raila, nitachunguza sawasawa,” she said, referring to a group of women from Suba West who attended the event to pay tribute to the late Raila Odinga.

Her response drew cheers and applause from the “Daughters of Raila,” who welcomed the pledge with excitement.

Mama Ida emphasised that she would take the matter seriously and ensure Salasya finds a suitable match among the group.

Salasya has previously spoken about his search for a wife.

In 2022, he told The Standard that he was looking for a God-fearing woman who would support him in his political ventures.

“I am just looking for a very prayerful woman, a very young girl, a focused girl, a supportive girl, presentable and must be able to speak to the people in the countryside. Are you willing to join me we go look for votes?” he said at the time.

He also stated that he was not in a hurry to make a decision.

“I'm an exposed man. Kwani naeza pelekwa pelekwa hivi. I am an MP, and you know I have convinced people that I am a very intelligent person. I am strong,” he said.

Over the years, the youthful MP has expressed his intention to marry.
