More than 2,000 Kilifi residents have benefited from free medical services during the Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM) Mega Annual Medical Camp held at the company’s Mariakani headquarters.
The one-day outreach, organised by the Safal MRM Foundation, brought together medical specialists, partner organisations and volunteers to provide comprehensive healthcare to the local community.
Residents received a wide range of services including general consultations, dental check-ups, ENT services, pediatric care, cancer screening and free medication. The optical programme also drew huge numbers, offering eye examinations, free reading glasses and cataract interventions.
According to organisers, more than 40 patients have been scheduled for cataract surgeries while two patients requiring urgent attention were referred to Mariakani Level 4 Hospital.
MRM Chief Executive Officer Albert Sigei said the initiative is part of the company’s long-term commitment to improving community health.
“This is part of our broader commitment to community health and wellbeing — one of the four key pillars of the Safal MRM Foundation. We are proud to make a real impact here in Mariakani,” he said.

Newly onboarded partners from the Kenya Haemophilia Association Unit, stationed at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, participated in the exercise.
Led by project coordinator Beatrice Mwangi and nurse Susan Wachuka, the team sensitised residents about haemophilia and urged them to seek medical attention while dispelling myths surrounding the condition.
Safal MRM Foundation Head Siproza Rabach said the organisation aims to continue investing in opportunities that uplift communities.
“Our goal as the Foundation is to improve the quality of life for Kenyans. We invite more partners to join us in empowering livelihoods and building healthier communities,” she said, noting that health is one of the foundation’s four focus areas alongside education, shelter, and the environment.

The Annual Medical Camp has grown into a crucial support system for residents of Mariakani and neighbouring areas, reinforcing MRM’s commitment to not only building roofs, but also building lives.
