A majority leader in a cosmopolitan county assembly is facing growing backlash from members after allegedly pocketing millions of shillings meant to calm their anger over recent developments in the county. The money, reportedly issued by a senior state official to appease the ward representatives, is said to have never reached them, sparking outrage among the MCAs. Frustrated by what they see as betrayal, the members are now plotting to oust the leader, who has held the powerful position since 2022. Sources say the embattled leader is in panic and frantically seeking funds to placate his colleagues and save his job.

Aides of two senior politicians from one of the counties are reportedly growing uneasy over the conduct of their bosses. The veteran leaders are said to have rented rooms in a top hotel in the capital, where they supposedly frequently host young women, mostly university and college students in their early 20s. According to insiders, the two politicians have allegedly turned the facility into their private hideout for secret escapades, after which they hand out between Sh10,000 and Sh30,000 to the women.
