A FIRST-TERM GOVERNOR already under scrutiny for alleged
scandals in his administration recently stunned MPs when he openly confronted
officers accompanying him to a parliamentary committee. He lashed out, purportedly
accusing them of misleading him on county financial matters and threatening to
fire them once back in office. The committee chairperson intervened to calm the
visibly agitated governor, whose emotions had flared throughout the session.
MPs later faulted him for what they described as alleged poor coordination,
disconnect with his team, and excessive delegation of critical duties—issues they
warned could worsen the county’s governance troubles.
TWO LAWMAKERS NEARLY came to blows over a recent parliamentary decision on the fate of a top county officer. One MP, determined to have the officer removed, confronted his colleague, accusing him of colluding with political interests to protect the official. He further alleged that some MPs had accepted bribes to influence the parliamentary verdict. But the colleague pushed back, claiming the accuser was himself working with “dark forces” to bring down the officer as part of a wider scheme targeting the 2027 General Election.
