Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo is set to join the Linda Mwananchi movement for a major rally in Thika on Sunday.
Odhiambo’s association with the movement is expected to further boost the popularity political outfit led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Odhiambo confirmed her participation through a post on her official X account on, rallying supporters ahead of the event and signaling her continued association with the movement that has increasingly positioned itself as a voice for constitutionalism, accountability and citizens' rights.
Her appearance at the rally comes just days after she formally joined the Linda Mwananchi movement, a development that has sparked widespread speculation about her possible political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The move was first announced by Sifuna on June 9 when he publicly welcomed the former LSK president into the movement, describing her as an important addition to a growing coalition of leaders seeking to champion reforms and citizen-centered governance.
Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi also welcomed Odhiambo's decision to join the outfit, terming it a significant boost to the movement's national appeal.
“Welcome, Madam President, to Linda Mwananchi,” Kibagendi
said in a message posted on social media.
Sunday's rally is expected to attract thousands of supporters and bring together a host of prominent opposition leaders and reform advocates. Among those expected to attend are Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka and former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who recently joined the movement.
Organisers have outlined a full-day programme beginning with a church service at AIPCA Thika Cathedral before participants proceed to Kivulini Grounds for the main political rally.
Leaders are also expected to make a stopover in Githurai later in the day as part of their outreach activities.
Political analysts view Odhiambo's entry into the movement as a notable development given her profile as a former head of the country's lawyers' body and her outspoken stance on governance and constitutional matters.
The Thika rally comes at a time when political activity is intensifying across the country as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
The decision to hold the event in Kiambu County is also being viewed as strategic, given the region's influence in national politics and its significance in determining electoral outcomes.
As the Linda Mwananchi movement continues to attract new allies and expand its reach beyond traditional opposition strongholds, Sunday's gathering is expected to serve as an important test of its growing popularity and ability to mobilise support across different regions of the country.
