Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua dared the government to arrest him if he has committed a crime punishable by law.
Addressing the press Monday in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua appeared to respond to separate statements by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen suggesting that he is untouchable and would be arrested over his alleged inciting remarks.
He said neither he nor his supporters would be cowed or intimidated by the use of the criminal justice system.
“If the government knows that I have committed a crime known under the laws of Kenya and identified within the penal code, they know where my home is...and, I am here, they know my wamunyoro home,” he said.
“The drama of waylaying us on the roads should stop.”
He said security officers should instead go after him at the home and take the necessary action.
Gachagua at the same time stated that he has not been summoned and that should there be any summons, he would honor it.
