The general food rations for refugees in the East and Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region remain far below the ideal standards, according to the Food Security & Nutrition Working Group report for June 2025.
Uganda has the highest ration at 78%, followed by Rwanda at 63% and Kenya at 60%.
Refugees in South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Burundi are surviving on only 50% of the recommended food ration.
Sudan records the lowest level at just 30%.
The ideal food ration is set at 100% or 2,100 kcal per day, in line with UNHCR and WFP standards.
