Shame on you! Ruto to leaders politicising violent demos

President William Ruto has told off leaders who are politicking about violent protests, claiming it is being orchestrated by one community.

Ruto said leaders who have information on the suspects behind the looting and torching of people’s businesses should report to the police.

 “I hear that someone has said in a statement that the government organised people to invade, burn and destroy businesses of people from one community. If that person is man enough, they should tell us who they are, go and write a statement and tell us who those people are, don’t just speak nonsense, politicising that is unacceptable,” he said.

The President told off the opposition on claims that a state official orchestrated chaos during the Saba Saba Day protests.

He warned that such matters should not be politicised to divide Kenyans into tribal groups.

“If any leader has information to the effect that the burning of citizens’ properties in Meru, Kiambu, Kirinyaga and Murang’a was orchestrated by any official in government, if you are a responsible leader provide that information to the public so that those behind the heinous acts can be taken to court and charged  for criminal activity,” he said.

“If you are playing politics with businesses of people who are shedding tears because they have lost their properties and businesses, then shame on you.”

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday claimed that a killer squad of 101 officers was formed when he still served in government.

Gachagua claimed the officers were selected from the Administration Police Service (APS) and taken for specialised training.

He alleged that the National Intelligence trained them on abductions, killings and cover-up.

“This squad of 101 people was formed when I was still in government. The officers were recruited from the Administration police unit for special training by NIS on abductions, killings and cover-up,” he claimed.

The former DP spoke on the viral video showing a gun-carrying unit that was hooded with masks that was shooting at protesters at an unknown location on July 7.

He claimed that it is the same killer squad.
