Data on Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) prevalence in Kenya reveals significant variations across different age groups for both men and women aged 15–49.

The overall number of STIs reported increased by 11%, from 278,319 in 2022 to 309,285 in 2023.

Across nearly all age brackets, women showed a higher prevalence rate compared to men.

The disparity was most pronounced in the 15–19 age group, where female prevalence was approximately 2.9% compared to the male rate of about 2.0%.

The highest overall prevalence for both genders occurred in the 20–24 age bracket, with the rate soaring to approximately 5.6% for women and 4.1% for men.

While the rates generally decrease with age, women in the 40–49 age bracket still reported a slightly higher prevalence than their male counterparts.

This trend underscores the heightened vulnerability and prevalence risk for women across reproductive ages, necessitating targeted public health interventions.
