Kenyans will on Sunday, October 20, 2025, mark Mashujaa Day, a national holiday honouring heroes who contributed to the country’s freedom and development. The main celebrations will be held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, presided over by President William Ruto.

Thousands of Kenyans are expected to attend the event, which will feature military parades, cultural performances, and recognition of outstanding citizens.

Mashujaa Day, formerly known as Kenyatta Day, was renamed after the 2010 Constitution to celebrate all national heroes, not just the founding fathers.

Security has been tightened across the country ahead of the celebration.
