Gachagua, who launched DCP in Lavington, Nairobi,
urged his loyalists to prepare for competitive nominations, both in the upcoming
by-elections and the 2027 general elections.
Addressing supporters, Gachagua emphasised that the party would uphold fairness and justice, warning his associates not to expect automatic nominations.
“We have no favourites. The party belongs to all Kenyans. It is the people of Kenya who will choose the candidates they want as their leaders,” Gachagua declared.
In a firm statement, he told his allies directly that no one should imagine they will be handed tickets based on loyalty or past associations.
“This party has no provision for direct nominations. It believes in letting the people decide,” he said.
“I have many leaders who have stood with me through difficult times—leaders who have walked with me on my political journey—but as much as I value them, none is entitled to direct nomination.
Gachagua expressed confidence that DCP would grow into
the most formidable political movement the country has seen since independence,
and warned rival parties to brace for stiff competition.
“The party belongs to all Kenyans, regardless of faith, age, tribe, creed, or colour,” he affirmed.
“Our DCP party is set to become the biggest political
movement in Kenya since 1963. It is the largest political formation since independence.”
Gachagua made these remarks on May 15, 2025, during the official unveiling of the party’s name and announcement of interim party officials.
Those named to leadership positions include former UDA and Jubilee heavyweights, among them:
