Mookh Africa has apologised to Kenyan fans after its ticket
sales platform experienced downtime caused by automated bots.
In a statement, the company said its system was overwhelmed
when sales opened at 12 pm, preventing genuine fans from buying tickets.
The firm assured fans that it is working to block bots and
ensure tickets go to real buyers.
“When sales opened at 12pm, our system was overwhelmed by
automated bots, preventing genuine fans from securing tickets as intended.
“Our team is actively working to stop this so that tickets
go to fans—not bots.”
The ticketing company acknowledged the frustration expressed
by fans and promised that tickets will be back on sale soon.
It thanked customers for their patience and support as it
works to resolve the issue.
“Thank you for your patience and for standing by us. Tickets
will be back on sale very soon!”
Earlier, fans trying to access the official website at midday
could not, at first, as it responded with some technical errors.
Later, when the site loaded, but this time around, it said
the tickets had been sold out, leaving many Kenyans frustrated.
"Sold out. We are sorry, but this event has sold
out," Mookh, the ticket distributor, noted.
Initially, the ‘sold out’ issue was assumed to be a high
demand underlining the excitement surrounding the tournament, which has drawn
massive interest across the continent.
Other quarters saw it as a strong signal of the tournament’s
appeal and the fans’ commitment to supporting their teams.
