Football fans rushed to secure their seats for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), with tickets selling out in just 15 minutes.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that sales would open at exactly 12 noon.

This was to give fans the chance to secure their seat for the match scheduled for Friday between Kenya and Madagascar.

However, upon trying to access the official website at midday, at first, it communicated some technical errors as fans flooded the online sales platform immediately.

Later, when the site loaded, the organisers communicated through the website that there was a sell-out.

"Sold out. We are sorry, but this event has sold out," Mookh, the ticket distributor, noted.

The high demand underlines the excitement surrounding the tournament, which has drawn massive interest across the continent.

This rapid sell-out is seen as a strong signal of the tournament’s appeal and the fans’ commitment to supporting their teams.

However, it also left many supporters disappointed after missing out on the limited slots available.

Authorities had earlier assured fans of smooth entry and strict crowd control measures during the match.

CAF had also communicated earlier on the increase in ticket prices.

"Mark your calendar! Sales start on August 19, 2025, at 12 pm," CAF announced through their official website.

The price of a regular ticket had been increased by Sh50, making it Sh250.

In the previous matches, the regular ticket had cost Sh200.

On the other hand, the VIP ticket had been increased by Sh100, making it Sh600, up from the earlier Sh500.

Despite the increase in prices, the quick sell-out of the tickets has shown the high demand.

CHAN 2024  has already delivered thrilling matches, and the quarterfinal between Kenya and Madagascar is being billed as one of the highlights of this major tournament.

The game is set for Friday, August 22, at 5 pm.

NEW Devlopment

Ticketing Company Mookh, in charge of the system,  has issued a clarification saying the sold out out feedback was a result of automated bots that prevented genuine fans from securing the tickets. The company aannounced that tickets will be available on sale soon.
