The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a new partnership with a recruitment company, Brightermonday to offer free online upskilling sessions to the NYS alumni and recent graduates.

The initiative, according to the Service, aims to address key skill gaps that were recently highlighted by employers during the recent NYS career Fair.

“Employers at the recent career fair highlighted key skill gaps among job seekers,” it said.

In a statement, NYS said many job seekers struggle with soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, abilities that are increasingly critical in today’s competitive job market.

“The free training sessions are designed to equip participants with these essential workplace skills, improving their chances of employment and career advancement,” it said.

“We heard loud and clear from employers that soft skills are often the missing link between qualified candidates and actual job placements,” said NYS Commissioner General James Tembur.

The partnership with the firm allows NYS to take immediate action and support our graduates with practical, employer-driven training.

The first round of sessions is scheduled for this week, with two virtual training opportunities available.

Graduates can join the training sessions on Friday at 10 pm and Saturday 3 pm through the links https://t.ly/d6NVY and https://t.ly/muTIw respectively.
