Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally arrived in Nairobi following a month-long tour of the United States.
Gachagua landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at around 1 pm.
He was accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas.
While in the US, the DCP leader visited several States where he met the Kenyan diaspora and held engagements.
Outside the Terminal 1 for the international arrivals and departures, a group of enthusiastic supporters, including politicians allied gathered to receive him.
They were clad in DCP caps while holding other materials branded in party colours.
It was not immediately clear whether Gachagua would address his supporters at the Kamukunji grounds as earlier planned and announced by DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malala.
Malala had stated that the peaceful procession would begin at JKIA to Nairobi’s Central Business District and later to Kamukunji.
By midday, supporters of Gachagua continued thronging to the exit of JKIA even as police kept a close vigil.
Scores of youths were milling around the junction joining Mombasa road while chanting pro-opposition slogans.
Another group of riding boda bodas arrived even as a police chopper hovered over the airport, patrolling the area.
The crowd was being controlled by a group of men and women dressed in black.
