Four people on Monday night sustained injuries after a motor vehicle they
were travelling in was involved in a traffic road accident along the busy
Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Makueni County.
The accident, which involved a Probox and a truck, occurred at the Kalimbini area near Sultan Hamud in Kilome Subcounty.
Mukaa
Deputy County Commissioner Buxton Mayabi confirmed the incident.
Two of the victims are said to have sustained
serious injuries and were transferred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, while the
others were admitted to Sultan Hamud Level 4 Hospital.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened when
the truck attempted to overtake the private motor vehicle.
The truck hit the Probox on one side,
causing its driver to lose control, which led to the accident.
The car reportedly overturned multiple times during the incident, resulting
in the injuries.
The management of Sultan Hamud Level 4
Hospital confirmed that two of the victims were critically injured in the
accident and were referred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital early Tuesday.
Police responded to the scene, processed it,
and rushed the victims to Sultan Hamud Level 4 Hospital.
The wreckage was towed to the police station, awaiting inspection and
necessary action. Police have launched investigations into the accident.
