A section of ODM aspirants for the Kasipul constituency parliamentary seat has expressed concern over what it terms as a plot to disrupt tomorrow’s ODM party nominations.

Led by the Boyd Were campaign team, the aspirants warned against attempts to introduce violence and intimidation in the process.

In a strongly-worded statement Tuesday, the campaign team said it had spent weeks engaging residents in homes, churches, markets, and polling centers to share their vision of a “fresh start” for Kasipul.

They said the people had been receptive, and the candidature was now ready for what they expect to be a decisive win.

“As we proceed to the nominations tomorrow, we want to restate our position on a peaceful process, free from violence, confusion, blackmail and threats,” the statement read in part.

The team accused certain rivals of mobilising “hired hooligans, thugs and underworld criminals armed with illegal guns” to scatter voters and cause bloodshed during the primaries.

They singled out an aspirant and a senior county official whom they claimed were sponsoring goons from Nairobi and Kisumu to disrupt the exercise.

“We are aware of a meeting held last night in Mosocho where five of our key supporters were marked for elimination through acts of violence and gun attacks,” the campaign alleged.

This, as they called on police to act decisively against those planning chaos.

Despite the threats, the Boyd Were campaign urged Kasipul residents to turn out in large numbers and demonstrate their commitment to democracy and the ODM party.

“We must shame the devil of violence who is in our midst but pretending to be an angel. We are expecting nothing but victory tomorrow because the people of Kasipul have been very receptive to our candidature,” the statement concluded
