The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the start of delegate registration ahead of its 20th anniversary celebrations set to take place in Mombasa County from October 10 to 12, 2025.

In a notice on Tuesday, the party said it is finalising logistics for the event, which will bring together members and leaders from across the country.

“While the party will cater for selected participants from all 290 constituencies, we warmly welcome other party members who wish to attend the celebrations at their own expense to register,” the statement read.

According to the executive director, Oduor Ong’wen, registration is already open and will close on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The party said that only accredited delegates will be granted access to official events and venues.

ODM has provided two registration options, including an online portal and a USSD code, to ensure members can sign up conveniently.

The party said that participation in official events will be restricted to those who complete the accreditation process before the deadline.

The upcoming celebrations are expected to be a major milestone for ODM, marking two decades since its formation.

The party has been a central player in Kenya’s politics and remains one of the largest political movements in the country.

The three-day event in Mombasa is anticipated to draw a large number of delegates, with both logistical and political preparations already underway.

The party leadership has urged members to register early to avoid last-minute challenges.

ODM leaders reaffirmed that the party remains strong, rooted in its founding values, and committed to defending democracy and devolution.

The leaders spoke on Saturday at Wajir Stadium during a build-up rally marking the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Among those present were ODM National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and other senior officials.

Governor Wanga said ODM would continue to deepen its commitment to transparency and accountability. She noted that inclusivity remained central to the party’s vision, pointing to the appointment of Ahmed Abdisalan, a former Wajir North MP elected on an ODM ticket, as Principal Secretary for National Government Coordination.

Governor Nassir praised party leader  Raila Odinga’s leadership, crediting him with shaping Kenya’s political landscape and guiding the party through two decades of challenges and growth.

“As we stand here to celebrate 20 years of our party, we want to sincerely thank the Right Honourable Prime Minister because he has led ODM and ensured it continues to be a beacon of hope to all Kenyans,” Nassir said.

Wajir Governor Abdullahi said ODM had consistently demonstrated electoral strength since 2007, adding that Odinga’s role remained critical in stabilising governments that followed disputed elections.

“Every government that comes to power has to call on Baba to steady things. Even in 2027, no government can run without Raila,” Abdullahi said.
