Koome appoints 129 judicial officers as Small Claims Court adjudicators

The appointments empower the officers to preside over Small Claims proceedings within their current and future court stations.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has appointed 129 judicial officers as adjudicators for the Small Claims Court for a period of twelve months starting from September 1, 2025. 

The appointments, made under the powers granted by the Small Claims Court Act of 2016, empower the designated officers to preside over Small Claims proceedings within their current and future court stations.

The list of judicial officers appointed includes Manuela Kinyanjui, Kinyatta Rhoda, Mercy Nkirote Kinyua, Everlister Kithinji Kathure, Dennis Nguli Kioko, Habrovinah Nyamweya, and Jackinda Rena Aketch.

In the list also are Dorence Chelangat Soy, Jacklyne Tawai Khalimesi, Andrew Njuguna Gathu, Jacinta Mwangi Wangeci, Cornel Omondi Ochieng, Philomena Nafula Makokha, Grace Mutemi, Tracy Wachira Wanjiku, Maureen Olonyi Nyakoa, John Ogutu Ochieng, Christabel Chepchirchir Maiyo, Larry Kombe Matawi, Lucy Gitari Wanja, Esther Mutuku Mwikali, Victor Shivega, Emmaculate Deche Dzidza, Winnie Chepkirui Keter, Namunyak Nkurrunah, and Verah Momanyi Kemuma.

Justine Wanyonyi Nasimiyu, Eunice Mutie Ndanu, Patricia Chelangat Koech, Wilkister Magwi Ghati, Caroline Ireri Karimi, Yvonne Kwamboka Agwata, Naomi Lynn Mbeti Michuki, Sylvia Muhanda Ashitsa and Reginald Kimeu Nguto were appointed too.

Steven Musili Maluki, Nancy Rop Chepchumba, Harriet Okello Atieno, Ruth Ogolla Khanali, Flavian Mulama Mung’ahu, Violet Moguche, Timothy Kiprono Ng’etich, Jackline Githaiga Njeri, Zenah Kiboss Cheruto, Green Opiyo Odera, Richard Mwachi Chesoni, Judy Linda Muthee Kananu, Pauline Kinyua Karimi, Sheila Tirop Chepchumba, Alice Barbara Akinyi, Gladys Kiamah Wambui, Clare Odunga Onianyira, Anne Lule Kalekye, and Robert Lemayan Rotich were also appointed.

Antoinette Ogange Zowade, Geoffrey Mokua Manyara, Kristine Gathoni Mugo, Francis Xavier Baraka, Beryl Jumar Achieng, Arnold Omurwa Nyandusi, Nellieanne Ng’ang’a Wambui, Nelson Gachuki Njuguna, Carolyne Chepchumba Rono, Casmir Obiero Augustus, Tracey Nambisia Kasandi, Edith Mokaya Bonareri, Jacob Mkala Punga, Joy Ayieta Atieno, Linda Wanjiru Muchiri, and Fransisca Ngetich Chepkoech.

Cynthia Chepkoech Cheruiyot, Kemei Silas Kandie, Akida Kassim, Elizabeth Khanali, Mwera Atamba Lynn, Ng'ang'a Catherine Wanjiru, Muthoni Viola Serfinder Wakuthii, Otuke Shadrack Obure, Getenga Harriet Moraa, Oboge Edward Meshack Otieno and Marienga Tessy Elaine, Thibaru Mercy Kinanu, Wahinya Wa Kugwa, Kabuteh Irene Wambui, Gaithuma Evelyn Muthoni, Macharia Dominic Maru, Maina Lilian Wangari, Manasses John Obeto, and Asenwa Luova Benta were appointed too.

Appointed too are Munyuny Angela Chepoisho, Endoo Dorcas Chepkemei, Omono Tobias Odongo, Kamau Mary Wangari, Gacheru Julius Maina, Mutava Susan Ndunge, Chelimo Eunice, Rono Ivan Kipkoech, and Murangasia Welamondi Brian.

Ndungu Gatambia Samuel, Wanja Naomi Wangui, Amoro Asiago Justine, Wamae Elizabeth Mutile Muindi, Zacharia Kagenyo, Simatwo Gillian Chepchumba, Chelule Emmie Chepkorir, Mutimba Joy Babone, and Motari Silvia Kerubo are also in the list.

Serem Getrude Chepng'etich, Manyura Kemuma Sarah, Velnah Mochache Mong'ina, Okumu Caroline Auma, Nyaga Lisper Gakii, Kemei Jepkosgei Elizabeth, Wayodi Sylivia Adhiambo, Mbugua Tabitha Wanjiku, and Cheruiyot Caroline Jeruto are also in the list

Wanjiru Julie Njuguna, Ouma Rodgers Otieno, Kinuthia Grace Waithira, Ngayo Bett Daniel, Toroitich Beatrice Kemboi, Wakina Kinyua Oscar, Thamara Wambui Irene, Nyabando Lilian Kwamboka, Odhiambo Beniah Okong’o, Okullo Amelea Awino, Imoleit Ismael Stanley, Dorothy Shitandi Aswani, and Emily Cherop Jerotich are also in the list.

This move is part of the judiciary’s efforts to strengthen the Small Claims Court system and ensure speedy resolution of minor disputes.

In a separate development, Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor appointed Bernard Kipkoech Ngetich and Tom Ratemo as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya School of Law. 

These appointments, which took effect on September 26, 2025, will last for four years.

Both individuals were appointed under different sections of the KSL Act, 2012, reaffirming their roles in contributing to the governance and strategic oversight of the institution responsible for legal education and professional training.
