Detectives are investigating a robbery in Nairobi’s Central Business District in which a man reportedly lost Sh500,000 shortly after leaving a bank.

Police said the incident occurred around 3 pm on October 30, 2025.

According to authorities, the man and a colleague had withdrawn Sh2.5 million from the bank.

The colleague reportedly left with Sh2 million towards Wabera Street, while the victim headed toward Luthuli Avenue.

Near the Archives area, police reported, the man was allegedly confronted by a group of around ten individuals who took the money and fled.

The victim called for help, but no one was immediately available to assist. Officers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and found the man disoriented.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage in the area to identify the suspects.

Police indicated that they also plan to interview bank staff involved in the transaction. Investigators believe the suspects may have had prior knowledge of the cash withdrawal.

This incident follows similar armed robberies targeting customers leaving banks. In Siaya County, police said a gold dealer was robbed of Sh1 million while travelling home with his wife along Bondo-Siaya Road.

According to officers, four men armed with an AK-47 intercepted the couple.

The suspects reportedly blocked the road near the victim’s residence, using a car with concealed registration numbers.

Police reported that the attackers gained access to the victim’s home, seizing Sh677,000 from a safe and Sh350,000 from the vehicle, along with a gold watch and two mobile phones.

The suspects then locked the couple inside before fleeing. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

In another case, police in Muungano, Machakos County, said a gang attacked a private home, injuring a man and stealing Sh100,000 and other valuables.

Officers reported that the suspects had been waiting in the compound before the family arrived.

Police confirmed that operations in the affected areas have been intensified to address the rise in armed robberies, amid community concerns over repeated attacks targeting cash and household valuables.
