What the judges will be looking for

Every year since 2018, The Star has recognised Kenyans whose work has made a measurable positive difference. The Star Person of the Year Award honours dedication, leadership, resilience and contributions to national progress.

The nomination committee will assess submissions to find nominees whose work shows clear, consistent and measurable impact.

Judges will prioritise individuals who have created positive change and uplifted communities.

Specifically, the committee will look for nominees who meet one or more of the following:

i. Those who strive to make Kenya or their community a better place to live and work.

ii. Individuals who have greatly helped, inspired or brought honour to Kenya.

iii. Innovators who have invented solutions that have dramatically changed lives.

iv. People of integrity who have stood against impunity and promoted good governance.

v. Those who have helped alleviate poverty or who are champions of the environment.

The committee will evaluate nominated persons before selecting the ultimate winner. The winner will be the nominee who leads in nominations once voting concludes.

Every year, the award has honoured a diverse range of changemakers,  from public servants and frontline health workers to leaders and everyday citizens.

The 2025 winner will be unveiled a few days before Christmas.
