The late Isiolo South Member of Parliament, Tubi Bidu Mohamed

Isiolo South MP Tubi Bidu Mohamed was laid to rest on Thursday in a funeral attended by political leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, in line with Muslim rites.
Tubi passed away on Wednesday evening at the Nairobi Hospital. 
Speaking at the funeral, Wetang’ula eulogised him as a dedicated, honest and hardworking legislator who remained committed to his constituents even while ill.

"His final contribution in the House seeking answers on insecurity in his constituency reflected his unwavering commitment to his people."

Wetang'ula said Tubi dreamt of a peaceful North Eastern region free from banditry and crime, a vision the National Assembly will continue to pursue in his honour," he said.

"On behalf of the National Assembly, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Isiolo South," he said.

Tubi entered Parliament after winning the Isiolo South seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in the August 2022 General Election.

During his tenure, he served on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, as well as the Public Petitions Committee.

Before his national role, Tubi had built a strong political and professional record at the county level.

He was the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, serving from 2013 to 2017.

Tubi had a passion for environmental and wildlife conservation, where his career spanned two decades, from 1993 to 2013, during which he rose from acting game warden to senior positions in Isiolo, Narok, and Samburu counties.

Tubi is the fifth legislator of the current Parliament to die in office. Earlier this year, Baringo Senator William Cheptumo died on February 15 while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

Two days later, Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi passed away at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi after a short illness.

On April 30, Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot dead by a gunman on a motorcycle near a traffic light outside Nairobi Funeral Home; police described the attack as “targeted and premeditated.”

In 2023, Banisa MP Kullow Maalim Hassan died in Nairobi while receiving treatment after being hit by a boda boda in a hit‑and-run accident.
