United Democratic Alliance candidate Samuel Muchina has claimed one of his vehicles was torched on the eve of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Speaking after casting his vote on Thursday, Muchina said a vehicle carrying his agents was set ablaze in Mugumo area on Wednesday but the situation was brought under control.
He also alleged that he had encountered individuals distributing money to voters on Thursday morning.
"This morning we have had two incidents. I found some individuals dishing out money to voters, but I believe IEBC will take action against those trying to bribe our voters," he said.
Despite the claims, Muchina did not provide any evidence related to the same but he noted that he would report the alleged bribery incidents to the police.
"I have just come from that particular polling station and I will report the issue to the police because I am a citizen who abides by the law," he said.
Despite the incidents, the UDA candidate said security officers had been deployed across the constituency, helping maintain order during the exercise.
He also encouraged residents who had not yet voted to turn out and cast their ballots.
Muchina expressed confidence of winning the by-election but said he would accept the outcome if he lost.
"I am ready for the outcome because I know I am winning. If I lose, it's also okay. I will follow the law," he said.
Early in the week, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission appealed to residents and voters in Ol Kalou to report any cases of bribery or corruption during the by-election.
EACC Director of Preventive Services Vincent Okongo said the commission is working with other agencies to ensure the by-election is conducted free of corruption and other unethical practices.
"We appeal to Kenyans to report any form of corruption through our toll-free number 1551. Report such incidents to us as soon as possible so that appropriate action can be taken," Okongo said.
