To become an M-PESA agent, one needs to have some requirements.
Some of the requirements are one must be registered as a limited company or equivalent, at least 3 outlets ready to offer M-PESA under the registered company name and the company must have traded for a minimum period of 6 months among others.
According to Safaricom PLC, agents who do not meet the full requirements of being an M-PESA Agent dealer, should provide good conduct, business permit and identification documents
M-PESA turned 18 on March 21, 2025.
