The International Labour Organisation (ILO) and UNICEF estimate that around 35 million children aged 15 to 17 were engaged in child labour in 2020.

This age group represented approximately 9.5% of all children worldwide in child labour.

Notably, all of these 35 million adolescents were involved in hazardous work, meaning their jobs posed risks to health or morals.

Among boys aged 15–17, about 17.8 per cent were engaged in child labour, with an equal percentage (17.8 per cent) working in dangerous conditions.

The ILO defines child labour as work that is mentally, physically, socially, or morally harmful and which limits a child’s ability to attend school
