First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto arrived shortly before President
Ruto.
He was flagged by Kenya Defence Forces General Charles
Kahariri.
Following his arrival, as is tradition, he inspected the
guard of honour and presided over the trooping of colours ceremony.
Other officials present include Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, cabinet secretaries and members of the diplomatic corps.
Jamhuri Day, observed annually on December 12, marks the day
in 1963 when Kenya gained independence from British colonial rule.
