Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Thursday hosted a delegation of over 1,500 grassroots leaders from Isiolo County at his Irunduni home, in Tharaka Nithi County.
Kindiki highlighted Isiolo’s position as a key beneficiary of mega infrastructure projects, including the Sh100 billion Horn of Africa Gateway Road and the Sh28 billion Lamu Port–Ijara–Garissa–Isiolo road, which will open new trade and investment opportunities.
He noted that the government is also rolling out Sh1.3 billion Affordable Housing projects and Sh712 million last-mile electricity connections to serve 3,000 households.
A Sh360 million solar-diesel hybrid power plant in Merti is already complete.
Education and health facilities are also receiving upgrades, with Garbatula TVET set to benefit from Sh340 million in student housing and KMTC Isiolo campus getting Sh378 million hostels.
Kindiki urged local leaders to champion unity and encourage universal registration for Taifa Care, noting only 21 percent enrollment so far.
He also called on Community Health Promoters and other
influencers to promote speedy and universal registration into Taifa Care to
promote the right to the best possible health care for all.
