President William Ruto has pledged to personally sponsor 10 vulnerable girls from each of the 17 constituencies in Nairobi County to pursue their education at the newly established PCEA Booth Girls’ High School - Ngong Forest.
Ruto was speaking when he officially opened the institution and expressed his commitment to ensuring the enrolment at the school is increased.
“We have an opportunity to have those children from humble backgrounds in Langata and other parts of Nairobi to come and study in this school,” he said.
He also disclosed that he had agreed with the MPs from Nairobi to have them sponsor five more students each.
Ruto who was accompanied by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Nairobi Governo Johnson Sakaja among a host of leaders also used the opportunity to laud the sponsors who facilitated the construction of the school.
The Head of State is on his fourth-day development tour of Nairobi.
On Thursday, he is set to visit the Langata and Kibra constituencies.
The school was constructed by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in partnership with Booth Foundation, a charity organisation.
Booth is focused on providing world-class, affordable Christian education to students from all backgrounds.
Last year, PCEA and the Foundation opened another school-PCEA Enoomatasiani Booth School in Matasia.

The vision behind the Booth Schools is to create Christian institutions of excellence, where students can learn, innovate, engage new ideas, and develop leadership skills for the 21st century in a Christian atmosphere for the transformation of student lives and society.
Other Booth Schools of Excellence are PCEA Ongata Booth Girls of Excellence, PCEA Kanjeru Booth Girls High School, and PCEA MaiAIhii Booth Boys High School.
The schools offer a rigorous academic curriculum, a variety of extracurricular activities, and a strong emphasis on community service.
PCEA, Booth and Nendeni Outreach Programme have been in partnership since 2019.
This has allowed the investment of a significant amount of resources in building and developing high-quality high schools in Kenya.
