Among the notable figures on the list of candidates for the member are former police spokesperson Eric Kiraithe, former PS Colleta Suda, former Bomet police commander Esther Seroney, former NYS DG Matida Sakwa and NPS Director Gender and Children Affairs Jostice Barmao.

The National Police Service hosted a luncheon to bid farewell to outgoing NPSC commissioners on Thursday.
Present during the luncheon were officers from the Administration Police Service (APS) led by Deputy Inspector General of Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Gilbert Masengeli and the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.
The former commissioners, led by chairperson Eliud Kinuthi, exited office after the expiry of their six-year term.
The main functions of the commission include recruiting and appointing persons to hold or act in the office of the police service, confirming appointments, and determining promotions and transfers within the National Police Service.
They also observe due process, exercise disciplinary control over, and remove persons holding or acting in offices within the service.
The advertisement for the recruitment of a new chairperson and members appeared in the local dailies on February 20.
