Nairobi is poised to become the epicentre of the global construction industry this week as more than 43 countries gather for the 26th edition of BUILDEXPO Kenya, East Africa’s largest international trade exhibition for the building and construction sector.

The three-day event, taking place from July 16 to 18 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), is expected to break previous records in terms of participation and influence.

Presiding over the inauguration will be Charles M. Hinga, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, accompanied by Regina A. Ombam (Trade) and John L. Ololtuaa (Tourism), signalling strong government endorsement for the sector’s role in national development.

This year’s expo spans multiple sectors under one roof, including construction, mining, lighting, woodworking, and water technologies.

Organisers say the 2025 edition will be “bigger and more impactful than ever,” showcasing groundbreaking innovations and sustainable solutions that promise to shape the future of East Africa’s infrastructure landscape.

“It promises to be a global hub for industry leaders, innovators, and professionals looking to connect, explore opportunities, and drive progress in East Africa’s rapidly growing infrastructure and construction sectors,” said the organisers in a statement.

Among the high-profile exhibitors are Lesol City Ltd, PL International Holdings Kenya Limited, LINKMISR International, Enrich Equipment Ltd, Mobikey Truck and Bus, and Li Dong (Singapore) Trade PTE. These established names will share the floor with a wave of new international participants from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, all eager to tap into Kenya’s booming construction market.

The event will also see the participation of key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

Their presence underscores the expo’s role as a catalyst for industry-wide dialogue, collaboration, and policy influence.

The event has attracted participation from key government departments, professional associations, and regulatory bodies.

Notable among them are representatives from the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, Kenya Professional Realtors Association (KPRA), REBWAK (Real Building Workers Association of Kenya), the NGO Council of Kenya, Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), Kenya International Freight & Warehousing Association (KIFWA), the Water Sector Workers Association of Kenya, the WASH Alliance Kenya, Sunrise Real Estate Agents Association, the Town and County Planners Association of Kenya, the Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK), and the Association of Real Estate Stakeholders, who have also confirmed their attendance at the event.

Kenya’s construction sector continues to thrive, driven by expansive government-led infrastructure programs, the affordable housing agenda, and increasing urbanisation. BUILDEXPO 2025 is expected to further accelerate this momentum by fostering investment, technology transfer, and international partnerships.

With record-breaking attendance anticipated, the event is set to reaffirm its status as East Africa’s premier platform for the building and construction industry, reinforcing Kenya’s strategic position as a gateway to regional growth and innovation.
