Condolences pour in as leaders mourn Ichung’wah's father

They described him as a visionary entrepreneur, a pioneer in Kikuyu Town, and a man whose life was defined by generosity and service.

Several national leaders have joined in mourning with Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah following the death of his father, Mzee Isaac Ngugi.

According to a statement from the Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mzee Ngugi passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kikuyu on Thursday. He was 105 years old.

Leaders described him as a visionary entrepreneur, a pioneer in Kikuyu Town, and a man whose life was defined by generosity and service.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale was among those who sent his message of condolence. 

Duale noted Mzee Ngugi’s contribution to the community, describing him as a man whose service and generosity touched many lives.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Kimani Ichung’wah following the passing of his father, Mzee Isaac Ngugi,” he said.

“Mzee was a visionary entrepreneur whose generosity and service to the community will always be remembered. May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and give his loved ones strength and peace during this difficult time.”

Interior PS Raymond Omollo also paid tribute, reflecting on the late patriarch’s role in shaping Kikuyu Town and supporting the less fortunate.

Omollo pointed out that Mzee Ngugi’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to uplifting the vulnerable left a lasting imprint on the community.

“We join other Kenyans and the people of Kikuyu in mourning the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, father of Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah. A pioneer businessman and among the founders of Kikuyu Town, Mzee will be remembered for his generosity and commitment to uplifting the vulnerable. His legacy remains an inspiration. May he rest in peace," he said.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru highlighted the patriarch’s longevity and resilience, noting that his 105 years of life were a testimony to God’s grace.

She emphasised the values he passed down to his family, which continue to inspire.

“I extend my condolences to Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah and his family on the passing of their beloved patriarch, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi,” Waiguru stated.

“His long life of 105 years is a true testament to God’s grace and a legacy of strength, wisdom, and resilience that will remain an inspiration to generations. May the family find comfort in the rich heritage and values he leaves behind.”

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi also joined in consoling the Majority Leader.

He expressed his sympathy and prayed for comfort for the grieving family, describing Mzee Ngugi as a man whose memory would remain a blessing to those he left behind.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family of Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Leader of Majority, on the passing of your beloved father, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi,” Sudi said.

“May God grant you peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family.”
