Police are investigating three separate murder incidents reported over the weekend in Nairobi, Embu, and Siaya counties.

In Nairobi, a 25-year-old man died following a fight at a lodging in Kamukunji on Saturday morning.

Police said Barnabas Oketch had gone to meet his girlfriend at a hotel along Duruma Road when he found her with another man. A confrontation broke out, during which Oketch was assaulted on the head.

Guards rushed to the scene and moved him to the reception waiting room, but the assailant fled in the confusion.

Hours later, Oketch was found dead in the same waiting room.

Police confirmed he had swelling on his head.

The woman at the centre of the altercation was arrested as part of the investigations, while the body was taken to the mortuary for post-mortem.

According to police, many of the murder cases reported recently are linked to “money, love triangles, and land issues.”

Elsewhere in Gachoka, Embu County, 70-year-old Danson Maringa was found dead by the roadside about 20 metres from his house. His throat had been slit, and he had four deep cuts at the back of his head.

Witnesses said Maringa had been at a local bar and was returning home when he was attacked by unknown assailants on 13 September.

His body was discovered lying in a pool of blood near his home. Police said they are pursuing the killers and moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy.

In Siaya County, a man identified as Julius Odhiambo was lynched by a mob in Ratado, Ugenya. Odhiambo, accused of being behind a murder in the Ugunja area, was traced to Ratado, where residents stoned him to death.

His body was later taken to the mortuary. Police condemned the killing, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands.

They urged communities to surrender suspects to the authorities for investigation and due process.

The incidents have once again drawn attention to the rising cases of violence across the country, with detectives now working to establish motives and track down those responsible.
