Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was overcome with grief and broke down in tears after viewing the body of his late aunt in Eldoret on Friday.
The MP joined family members at the Eldoret Hospital mortuary to collect the remains of Mama Pauline Chelimo Kipkore, who died at the age of 87.
Sudi viewed the body before breaking down, and
had to be comforted by Catholic priest Father Godias Kipkoech alongside relatives
and friends.
The MP did not address mourners and was later escorted to his car as the body was moved out in a procession headed to Kapyego, Elgeyo Marakwet, where the burial is scheduled for Saturday.
Among those accompanying Sudi were Uasin Gishu County
Executive for Sports Robert Kemei, UDA official Paul Kiprop, and several MCAs.
Addressing mourners on behalf of the leaders present, Kemei conveyed condolences to the family.
“We pray for you, our MP Sudi, and your family
so that God will comfort you at this time of great loss of the family
matriarch,” Kemei said.
He further urged mourners to keep their faith strong.
“God is above everything and He has a reason for everything that happens,” he added.
Family members said the late Mama Kipkore was close to the MP and played a major role in his upbringing.
