In Summary

M-PESA fraud remains a major concern, with scammers using different tactics to trick users into revealing their PINs or transferring money unknowingly.

To protect yourself, always know that Safaricom only contacts you via 0722000000 and never shares your PIN with anyone.

Avoid following instructions from unknown callers, as fraudsters often pose as customer care agents.

Genuine M-PESA messages are sent from "M-PESA" and not personal numbers.

If you receive suspicious messages claiming you have won a prize or offering assistance, do not engage—forward them to 333 for action.

Safaricom staff will never ask for your PIN, SIM passcodes, or passwords.
