This initiative is a direct response to increasing cases of antimicrobial-resistant typhoid, particularly among children under 15, recognising drug-resistant typhoid as a growing threat exacerbated by climate change and urbanisation.
The TCV is slated to become a permanent fixture in the routine immunisation schedule for infants at 9 months old.
The Ministry of Health aims for an 80% TCV coverage to effectively protect children from this disease.
