An estimated 40.4 per cent of Kenyans aged between 18 and 45 are actively engaged in betting, highlighting the growing popularity of gambling among young adults.

Data shows those aged 26–35 lead at 15.2 per cent, followed by the 18–25 bracket at 14.3 per cent. Participation drops with age, with 36–45 at 10.8 per cent, 45–55 at 5.8 per cent, and those above 55 at just 1.8 per cent.

The figures, sourced from KNBS and FinAccess, point to a strong youth-driven betting culture, raising concerns about financial habits and the long-term economic impact on Kenya’s working-age population.
