
The government has proposed a Sh4.8 trillion budget for the 2026/27 financial year, with education receiving the largest allocation among key sectors at Sh668 billion.
According to Treasury figures, national security will receive Sh566 billion, making it the second-highest funded sector in the budget.
Roads and infrastructure have been allocated Sh230 billion, while the health sector is set to receive Sh170 billion to support healthcare services and related programmes across the country.
Housing and works will receive Sh135 billion, while environment and water programmes have been allocated Sh117 billion. The youth, women and equity sector has been earmarked Sh109 billion, while agriculture will receive Sh63 billion.
The budget is expected to be financed through projected revenue collections of Sh3.6 trillion.
